Cover Blurb:

'I first met Ollie when I found him alone at the end of the fisherman's pier. He was big and black and gloomy and grey, and I wondered if I should go near...' A lonely octopus named Ollie moved from the deep, dark ocean floor to the bright world above him - but he can't stop feeling big and black and gloomy and grey. Follow a whimsical tale of friendship that sees Ollie learning to find what makes him happy, and how he turns into all the colours of the rainbow. The playful, rhyming story is the perfect starting point for talking to children about happiness, and how we can help others and ourselves find what makes us smile. The rhythmic verse and charming illustrations make it an ideal bedtime story. Engaging and thought-provoking, it will enchant children from 3 - 7 years, and adults of all ages.

Jolly Ollie Octopus (Jolly Ollie Octopus Adventures) By Author Jane Thomas – Book Review

Produced to a very high standard, this book will appeal to confident readers in mid primary age range to read alone, but will also be enjoyed by younger children who will love the bright and engaging illustrations. The inside cover alone is a joy. The font is large and clear, and the prose rhymes in a lyrical flow that will encourage kids towards more fluent reading aloud. I engaged immediately with the main protagonist, Ollie, and enjoyed his journey and the information he learned along the way. A great message too, about following dreams and always being true to oneself, and some wonderful facts about Ollie that I’m certain children will love. An added bonus at the beginning and end of the story are the pages of verse, giving interesting facts about sea creatures. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable book that would sit well in any primary school library. I award 4 stars.
