Robberty Bobberty is a young rabbit who ‘doesn’t listen’ and ‘is on a mission’. Told by his mum to go outside to burn off some of his energy, he then races through most of the book, ignoring his friends’ pleas to join them in their various fun activities. Only when he falls and scrapes his knees does he slow down and appreciate what they are trying to show him. A nicely sized book for younger children who are perhaps ready to try reading for themselves. The repetition and rhymes will help the learning process.
The black font is large and easy to read, and the illustrations – with differing styles on each page – are bright and engaging. Robberty Bobberty and his friends are well defined and easy to identify. A good short story with a great message about taking the time to enjoy the simple aspects of life, and to appreciate friendships. This is a book that should appeal to early readers, or those who like to snuggle up for story time.
I award 4 stars.
