Author Bio

I grew up in Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. All my life I have enjoyed reading science fiction and fantasy books. I began writing when I was a teenager and sent many a short story to magazines in the 70s and 80s, not surprisingly they were rejected.
After a hiatus of nearly 20 years I returned to writing and the changing publishing scene. Now I write urban fantasy and paranormal romance. I am the author of three novels at the moment and working on number four. My current WIP is book 2 of my The Coterie series. It’s set in a fictional stately home in Leconfield, East Yorkshire,  I have one more book in my urban fantasy series, The Donati to write at the beginning of 2024, then I aim to turn my attention to a six book Paranormal Romance series set in the city of York where I lived for a few years. I have worked for the Inland Revenue and the local authority in the Housing department. After taking redundancy twelve years ago, I set up my own business as a Professional Genealogist. Lately I have been moving over to more writing and less genealogy, thought that will always be a part of my life.
I live with my husband, a fellow author and our four cats who are really in charge – so they say!

The Book Tour

Day 1 - Favourite Quotes

Time travel! He was already reading a history of the 20th century, and was fascinated by it. Appalled by the wars, but amazed by the moonshots. (Eryn McConnell)
The feeling she got was almost a sense of completeness, satisfaction from the bond, though she knew there were still a couple more acolytes to come. She looked up, expecting to see surprise in Percy’s face, but all she saw was satisfaction. (Michelle Marshall)
Quickly, she pulled the small statue on the wall near the library entrance and a secret door silently opened. She grinned. She couldn’t help it. Ever since their father had shown them the secret door and passage when they were children, she and her brother Ian had entered them as often as they could. (Phoebe Wilby)
“Yes, there'll be things to sort out." She tickled him, and he squirmed laughing. "But, yes, if you want to, you can live here." (Rebecca Wade)
Pollie allowed herself to be held. It was the first time since Brandon had left that she had felt comfortable being affectionate with someone else. (Sophie Jupillat Posey)

Day 2 - Character Summaries

Meggy: There’s a fair few characters to like in this one. I’m going to buck the trend as I was really intrigued by Meggy, even though she turned out to be a bad guy! And she turned the kid into a dog. I’m clearly in my villain era. (Eryn McConnell)

Pollie: As the head of the coterie and owner of the house, she is in a powerful position but always remains gracious and treats the other characters well. She’s a strong yet sensitive woman, who is in touch with her emotions and unique gifts. I love how open-minded she is and her willingness to welcome others into her life, despite having previously lived alone with her cats. (Michelle Marshall)

Bertie: Of all the characters in this book, and there are many, Bertie is my favourite. He is a sweet and loveable little boy who is introduced to us quite early, although we don’t realise who he is. It is only after the death of one of the characters that we get to know Bertie better. Bertie has a special talent for which he was treated unkindly at first, but once he is rescued, he transitions from a needy and insecure child, who is anxious to please, to being more self-assured. By the end of the book, he is still a child, but is now able to enjoy his childhood, doing what children do best. Play! (Phoebe Wilby)

Andrew: My favourite character is Andrew. I felt like he was written in such a gentle and warm way. It was always comforting to read the parts he was in. He goes through incredible hardships in the past and in the present events of the book and he handles them all valiantly. He is very understanding and accommodating no matter how shocking or uncomfortable his surroundings may be. Despite the events of the book unfolding dramatically, it does not stop Andrew being a stable and affectionate character and handling his grief maturely. (Rebecca Wade)

Pollie: This is a very hard choice as many of the characters are interesting and have amazing backstories. But I think my favourite character was Pollie. She is the heir to a pretty astounding legacy and while she is powerful and has a strong cast to support her, she isn’t overpowered and she still struggles to find answers. Her naiveté is sweet but it also is a frustrating point throughout the novel; particularly regarding Meggie. Yet it is a good trait too. She learns to trust her magic more and her coterie and she navigates the obstacles thrown at her with convincing strength but also vulnerability. I particularly enjoyed her relationship with Bertie; her maternal side really comes through. I also liked her camaraderie with the men, in particular Andrew. I am looking forward to seeing how her relationships with each man continue to develop in the sequels. The mystery regarding the diaries and the ancestral bond of her family was one of the most interesting aspects of the book; it reminded me of magical genealogy if you will, and her coming into her inheritance to claim it. Pollie’s character really felt like it gained more depth near the end of the novel; sometimes her character felt a little flat as things tended to happen to her. But she gradually becomes more reactive and more empowered. (Sophie Jupillat Posey)

Day 3 - Favourite Excerpts

I really enjoyed the chimera and the time travel aspect! The whole linking back and forth with the past was good. (Eryn McConnell)

It's you, Pollie," Lady Catherine said when they were in the garden pottering around. "What's me?" she replied, her teenage self not really interested in what her grandmother was talking about. "You'll be the next coterie leader, its heart, just like Lady Emma." (Michelle Marshall)

Andrew could feel himself losing consciousness, then he felt a final burst of love and energy through the bond. He felt as though his hands were melded to the chimera’s ankle and he could no longer feel his fingers. Even if he could free himself, it was too late now, he would be dragged back through the gate with the chimera. He heard Emma’s last scream of his name, before his world went black. (Phoebe Wilby)

Pollie could feel tears at the corners of her eyes, she was so tired from being awake half the night. She was touched by the hard work her staff – no, her friends – had already put in this morning. Cris put his arm around her and pulled her towards him, tucking her into his body and offering his silent support whilst sending her affection through the bond. (Rebecca Wade)

"She missed her parents, and Ian, though she was incredibly thankful that she'd been able to speak with her brother’s ghost through Bertie's intervention. Her parents would have loved their Grandson." This was so touching and reminds the reader of how much Pollie has lost in this story, despite becoming more powerful and discovering her coterie. (Sophie Jupillat Posey)

Day 4 - Video Interview

Day 5 - Reviews

Overall Star Rating: 4.5 stars. This is a well-paced story with some interesting characters. I liked the setting and the drawing in of the past through the letters and diaries. The poly element wasn’t forced, which is refreshing, and the characters were caring towards each other. I liked the contrast between romance and certain death in the whole chimera battle. (Eryn McConnell)

Overall Star Rating: 4.5 stars. Lady Emma’s Diaries is the sort of book it’s easy to escape into the pages of. Full of romance, magic, and mystery, it gripped me from the very first chapter. Its central character, Pollie is strong and likeable and her supporting cast in the form of her coterie all have an important part to play. Set in Yorkshire but with connections to other parts of the country and world, it spans both geography and time periods across the book. Though not in any way graphic, the book is brimming with the chemistry between the characters. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, history, mystery and magic. (Michelle Marshall)

Overall Star Rating: 4.5 stars. Lady Emma’s Diaries is partly set about 150 years in the past, but mostly slightly in our future. Lady Mary Vallois, Pollie to her friends, is the many times great granddaughter of Lady Emma, who was the leader of a coterie tasked with ridding the world of a great evil, the Chimera. They failed. Fast-forward to their present day, and Pollie learns she is the new leader of the coterie. She must assemble her acolytes, six men in total, and together, they must defeat the Chimera in the modern day. If they fail, the best outcome would be that it would be another 150 years before another coterie can try again. The worst outcome would be that they would have unleashed a great evil on the world. This story must be read knowing that it is only part of a story. I would have liked to see the coterie complete at the end of the first book, with subsequent books taking us through the challenges they will face as they attempt to contain the chimera and send it back to its own dimension for good – which is what I assume is the ultimate goal, even if it’s not the ultimate end. However, this isn’t the case, and for me, I felt like I was left hanging. Carol Kerry-Green’s storytelling is superb. Her characters are believable within the realm of paranormal fantasy and well developed. The story moves with a good pace with sharp dialogue to keep the story moving, and a great plot to keep the reader interested and engaged, despite some editing issues. This book is a great read. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. (Phoebe Wilby)

Overall Star Rating: 4.5 stars. Lady Emma’s Diaries by Carol Kerry-Green was a lovely and exciting read. The beginning of the book draws you in with the wonders of the stately home and the protagonist Pollie and a brief history of her family. Soon enough though the book transforms and takes you down a completely fresh path of magic, mystery, fantasy and romance blended throughout. Pollie is an empowering and brave main character who takes the events of the book in her stride. She fights for the health and harmony of all those around her and defends her friend’s and family no matter what. The rest of the characters in the book are interesting and engaging and I wish the book was longer so I could delve into their individual personalities and histories more. So I am excited to discover more about them next time. The book moved along at a great pace and the dialogue was believable and convincing. I thoroughly enjoyed the meshing of the different genres and how the romance was slow to build and not rushed. (Rebecca Wade)

Overall Star Rating: 4.5 stars. This book has an interesting premise and a diverse cast of characters. Pollie and her coterie are unique and are a heart-warming example of true friendship. All the men and ancillary characters felt pretty well fleshed-out. The world-building and historical set up gave an additional depth to the characters. It sometimes felt like some of the characters were more developed than others in favor of another member of the coterie or especially Pollie. Pollie is our main character and she is strong, powerful, and empathetic. She is also sweet and naive. She is very endearing, but as a result, I feel like some of the members of her coterie were kind of neglected; which is a shame as they all have great potential and interesting backstories. Their dialogue comes off as very vanilla sometimes for a reverse harem novel, but otherwise each character had a distinctive voice for the most part.
The story is straightforward. It starts off a bit slow; I was wondering when the magic was going to be prevalent! But when it gets going, it gets going. The mystery surrounding Lady Emma’s diaries, Pollie’s ancestors' fight, the chimera, and other family matters was well done and is intriguing. The plot takes some unexpected turns; sometimes the pacing feels too fast or too slow but overall, the story progresses at a good rate. The mystery aspect is one of the strongest in the novel. I can’t wait to see what happens next! I would love to see more magic and more spice in the romance in the next book! (Sophie Jupillat Posey)
